Edhi foundation led by Abdul Sattar Edhi, our hero, is the most esteemed and appreciated charity Foundation not only in Pakistan but across the globe. My family and many I know always try to give it to Edhi Foundation, when it comes to give charity. Last Week , Pakistan Cricket board has selected Edhi foundation as their official Charity partner in a ceremony held at Lahore. The announcement was made by Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Shahryar M. Khan as a tribute to the work of Abdul Sattar Edhi. As part of the announcement, the Pakistan Cricket Team will be seen sporting Edhi Foundation’s logo on the playing shirts for the ODI and T20I leg of its forthcoming tour of England and Ireland. This partnership tributes the services of the great philanthropic Abdul Sattar Edhi, inarguably one of the world’s most selfless humanitarians.
Present on the occasion was team from Pepsi Co as well, and they have also contributed to this venture by donating Rupees 1 million to the Edhi Foundation. This donation was done by Jahanzaib Khan, Vice president & general manager Pepsi Cola International. This is something I found amazing. PepsiCo has been lately doing many CSR activities as it turns out to be the most CSR conscious Brand (as far as I see), which is always on the feet when it comes to helping the good causes.
During this Ramazan, PepsiCo is already doing a noble campaign #LightingUpLives, where they are donating a certain amount from every sale to a good cause.
Saad Edhi, Trustee of the Edhi Foundation and grandson of Abdul Sattar Edhi was present on behalf of the Edhi Foundation on this occasion and collected the donation cheque. “On behalf of the Edhi Foundation, I would like to thank the Pakistan Cricket Board for its support to our cause. Seeing our cricketers sporting the Edhi Foundation logo on their kits will raise great awareness on a global platform,” he said.
As a mark of respect for Abdul Sattar Edhi, Misbah ul Haq, Azhar Ali, and Sarfaraz Ahmed presented the official Pakistan ODI and T20I jersey to Saad Edhi on behalf of the Pakistan Cricket Team. The team also donated a signed bat to be given away in an auction for the benefit of Edhi Foundation.
