I love Lahore and I don’t remember ever saying no to an opportunity to visit this beautiful city.
While checking out the weather forecast of Karachi a week or so back and complaining like every Karachite of this never ending summer in the city, in came a call from Red Bull to join them for Red Bull Music Academy’s (#RBMAPK) info session in Lahore, the first ever in Pakistan. What else could have I asked for man !!? It was an instant yes of course!
Oh by the way , while in Lahore, Karachi experienced the hottest February temperature in 2 decades (and i missed it ! Thank God :p)
With thanks to all the efforts put in by Red Bull Pakistan, it has become quite a happening brand lately in the country and have launched, and are coming up with, the most interesting activities and campaigns.
Red Bull Music Academy
For the first time in the history of Pakistani music, the Red Bull Music Academy, a global institution committed to fostering creativity in music, conducted a Info Session aimed at bringing the local music scene closer to the Academy. Hosted by the Academy team member Nick Dwyer in the sprawling metropolis of Lahore, the Info Session kicked-off with Dwyer sharing insights and forgotten tales from over a decade of being involved in Red Bull Music Academy’s worldwide activities. The Info Session took place in the heart of the nation ‘Lahore’ at the famous Haveli Barood Khana.
Local Academy alumni Tollcrane and Noahs Heark along with the musicians who had flown in to Lahore from different parts of the country to attend the Info Session were indeed the highlight of the event. The invited musicians took this opportunity to understand the Academy and its Application Stage better from Nick Dwyer and the two Pakistanis (Tollcrane and Noahs Heark) who have had the great honor of representing Pakistan at the prestigious Red Bull Music Academy Session; Tollcrane Tokyo Session 2014 and Noahs Heark Paris Session 2015.
Best thing about the event for me was the presence of Nick Dwyer. Nick was so amazingly overwhelmed by the talent he is seeing in Pakistan that he couldn’t stop praising about it all. He is infact a fan of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan’s music and other musicians from Pakistan.
Showering heap of praises on Pakistani musicians he said, ‘People are interested in knowing about the music scene in Pakistan. They rarely get an opportunity to mingle with musicians and artists from this part of the world and the ones who participated did very well. The world is not yet aware of this amazing underground electronic scene bubbling away here. The world should know that some very cool stuff is happening in Pakistan”
On the role of Red Bull giving the platform to Pakistani artists, he informed that for over the course of last ten years there have been now four participants from Pakistan including SMAX, Tollcrane and Noahs Heark. Nick asserted on the fact that If you are in anyway involved in making music than you should apply to be part of the Red Bull Music Academy and hopefully the world will see another promising artist representing Pakistan at Montreal this year.
Red Bull Music Academy Session is to take place this year in Montreal, Canada and the creative musicians out there who would wish to be part of this amazing opportunity , below the are the links from where you can find all the information:
And in the end, Thank you Red Bull for being an amazing host. UMAIRICA enjoyed every moment if it ! Below are some of my Insta posts from the session.
