25 days ! 12 best restaurants in 3 cities ! Top chefs from around the world and ofcourse the 7up !
It just cant get better than this and goes perfectly with 7up’s super hit advertising slogan i.e. “Manalo food ka love 7up” .
The 7Up Chef’s Bonanza was a 25 day event during which the brand flew in top chefs and entertainers from around the world to perform, cook and serve up exquisite meals in 12 of Pakistan’s top most restaurants. The chefs were: Chef Giuliano Tassinari from Italy, Chef Fazil Shahreen Bin Ahmad from Malaysia and Chef Fadi el-Reweissati from Lebanon. Entertainment included magician extraordinaire Rosen Roy from Malaysia, and a female cigar roller Mercedes Hernandes Orta from Habanos, (the cigar producing factory in Havana, Cuba) who demonstrated the art of cigar making, live.
Yours truly was invited to one of the evenings. The event, managed by the PR consultancy Pitch Media inc., invited UMAIRICA to the exclusive dinner evening at Monte Cristo. I tell you what, of all this blogging and socializing life of mine, this 7Up Chef’s Bonanza event was one of the finest events I attended. Congratulations Pitch Media for keeping it well organized and it really felt exclusive.
The 4 course dinner menu for us at Monte Cristo was all Italian.
Italian chef Giuliano Tassinari delighted us with beautiful array of authentic Italian dishes. The dinner started off with a refreshing signature 7Up mocktail followed by the risotto rice with a balsamic reduction and pan fried apple. The variety of flavors continued into the second course which saw a light ravioli filled with fresh homemade ricotta and spinach, fresh tomato sauce and fresh basil pesto. Next up was us to decide whether to go for the fresh red snapper with prawn and shrimp sauce, fresh cherry tomato and black olives or beef tenderloin seared to our liking with mashed potato, spinach leaf and a rosemary sauce. Andteh grand Finale: With a beautiful combination of flavors, the panna cotta baked with coffee and orange, and vanilla scented was a delicious ending to a scrumptious meal.
Umairica loved the saucy Ravioli and I think I should have ordered the red snapper instead of beef tenderloin. The dessert, panna cotta .. my word was out of this world .. It was so good , I have a feeling thats how good the “meetha” would taste in heavens.
Along with the 4 course meal, Rosen Roy, the Malaysian illusionist, was moving from table to table leaving guests delighted by his tricks. God knows when he took off my watch off my wrist. damn impressive !! And Sidra’s magically lost ring made a return from .. well … Rosen’s mouth…. LOL
Ms. Mercedes Hernandez Orta also present, skillfully rolled fresh authentic Cuban Habanos cigars for the guests.
The highlight of the evening apart from the food and entertainment was the most amazing company of friends from media. Sidra Rizvi of sidrarivisays was kind enough to accompany me, Mohsin Sayeed (The mehfil ki jaan) with his friend Jaffer Hasan, Salima Feerasta of Karachista and Samra Muslim of samramuslim with her husband Kamil Bhatti, we had a great great time and I think we discussed half of the world in those couple of hours spent at Monte Cristo. Fariha Rasheed, CEO of Pitch Media and Zofeen Saigol the communications coordinator of Pitch Media were also the company. It was really very nice meeting Pitch Media team for the first time, and a message to them: Keep coming back to Karachi with more exciting events.
Other restaurants in Karachi where 7up Chef’s Bonanza took place were Fuschia, Cafe Koel, Cafe Aylanto.
